1999 Dutch Open ChampionshipsIn January 99 we sent a team from Heathrow to compete at the Open Dutch Championships. This competition is the first major international of the year with around seven European countries taking part. Heathrow entered 3 female individuals and one trio. The standard of competition was very high with 21 athletes competing. Kerry Scotts came out on top for Heathrow, taking sixth position overall. Kerry is current British Junior Champion and did very well to place so high in this, a senior event. She was closely followed in seventh position by British senior champion Natalia Ilienko-Jarvis. Joanne Stevens, worked well to gain fourteenth position.
The Heathrow trio of Sarah Needham, Anoushka Mistry and Kelly Snape had only been together for two months and this was their first competitive outing. They were up against stiff opposition as the current world number three and sixth placed trios were present at these championships. The girls performed very well to come seventh, a magnificent result considering the short time they had been together.
