Heathrow Club Championships 2000
Fast, funky and fun was the spectators' verdict on the Heathrow Sports Aerobics Competition on Saturday 11th November 2000. This exciting sport is growing in popularity across the country and Heathrow Sports Aerobics Club played host to teams from Pinewood, Gillingham,the New Forest, Weston-Super-Mare, and Reading. The enthusiastic competitors, with ages ranging from 8 to 24 years, showed their skills and had the audience cheering to their fast dynamic routines that combine aerobic, strengths and gymnastic moves.
Heathrow, led by Gary Jarvis and Natalia Ilienko-Jarvis, are establishing themselves as one of the major clubs in Great Britain currently holding 9 British titles across age categories. The Club holds its championships annually and this event is fast becoming a popular competition for teams in the United Kingdom to attend. The Club Championships 2000 demonstrated that Heathrow not only hold current British titles but are developing athletes for the future with the squad growing in depth as well as ability.
Female individual - U10's The club has inspired girls and boys from all ages and the younger athletes in the under 10 category have been extremely successful with impressive performances from Vicky Chagger taking gold, Liliana Walduck silver and Rosie Webster bronze. New comers Kerry Dixon and Michelle Faircloth showed great potential for the future.
Female Individual - U 12's Joseph Denton has become a popular champion for the boys under 12s with his exciting and individual style ensuring another gold medal. The energetic moves and broad smiles in Rachel Murphy's routine secured her a gold in the under 12's followed closely by Christine Adams who always charms the audience with her grace. Kirsty Banfield improved on her performance at the British Championships to come 5th.
Female Individual - U14's Charlotte Walcott once again dominated with her athleticism and skill to secure gold while her pairs partner Lauren Barton performed a great routine for the silver medal followed in bronze position by the graceful Sarah Yusufu. An elegant, neat and much improved performance from Katie Hobbs in fourth place contributed to the success of the under 14 squad with Chelsey Dixon and Emma Beadle completing the strong presence of Heathrow in this category. Charlotte and Lauren gave a rousing and athletic performance to obtain gold in the under 14 pairs competition.
Under 16s and 18s Charlotte Murray, the current under 16 British Champion, excelled again with a brilliant performance to achieve gold in the under 16s and Laura Hayter won gold in the under 18 category.
Seniors The inspirational Senior British Champion Kerry Scotts received 19.45, the highest score of the competition, to give her the gold medal for the Seniors Female Individual category. Joined by Lauren Cannon and Sophie Burden to create a new trio they claimed the Senior gold medal position. Kerry will be representing Great Britain in the World Series to be held in Romania on the 24 November 2000.
National code individuals In the National Aerobic Code competition Heathrow were strongly represented in the under 10 category with first and third positions going to Isobel Garrett and Jenna Nola respectively followed closely by Kayla Gabriel and Rebecca Kemp.
National code pairs Stephanie Fois and Jacqueline Bamforth performed a spirited routine to achieve silver in the under 12 group while Nina Craig and Sarah Muggeridge followed their success at the British Championships with another gold medal position for this newly formed pair in the under 14 category. away with the gold medal.
The meeting was closed with a demonstration from the Clubs' senior trio Anoushka Mistry, Kelly Snape and Sarah Needham. The trio gave a spectacular finale to an exciting competition. The trio will also be representing Great Britain at the World Series in Romania.

offers fitness and fun to all age groups.
