Sports Aerobics at the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships Opening

Prince Edward This evening, Thursday, March 13, a special concert at Symphony Hall in the centre of Birmingham will mark the official opening of the 9th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics. HEATHROW SPORTS AEROBICS CLUB have the honours of fulfilling a 10-minute slot at the opening ceremony hosted by Sally Gunnell and Roger Black. Formed by the husband and wife team of Gary Jarvis and Natalia Ilienko-Jarvis with support from their coaches, Heathrow’s athletes performed in front of many people including the Duke & Duchess of Wessex. They will have the task of following a speech from Prince Edward! Choreographed by Natalia Ilienko-Jarvis, a former Soviet Union Artistic competitor from 1979-1985, whose accolades include World Floor Champion from 1981-83 and Overall champion in 1984, thirty young people, many of which are National Squad members, will be included in various routines from Individual, Trio, and groups. British Medal winner Lauren Barton will be performing her individual routine, along with Katie Cannon who will be joined by partners Ria Cousins and Charlotte Murray as British Trio Champions. Also joining them will be British Champions Katie Richards of PHOENIX GYM CLUB and Kirsty Batchelor and Sarah Webber from PINEWOOD GYM CLUB. |
